This is a possibility in cases where a stock has had splits, but has never payed dividends. There is no direct query for splits -- they are either extracted out of the dividend report or HTML version of the historical quote data.

I'll look into the possibility of attempting to pull this data from the 'monthly' historical reports since that would be less load (bandwidth and on their database) at possibly eliminate this false negative.
