XML::LibXML does not work with libxml 2.6.30 on os x 10.5 leopard

I found that XML::LibXML doesn't pass enough tests to get installed if you have libxml 2.6.30 installed. The default 2.6.16 is fine though. I'm using OS X 10.5 (leopard). Is this a known problem? I haven't found any similar reports.
