Character in 'C' format wrapped in pack at ... FmtDefault.pm line 68.

Just for completeness ...

It was discussed and solved already here:

http://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=7376

Will anybody occasionally take ownership of this apparently abandoned piece of software?

Or will somebody at least do a new release?

If you are willing to maintain the module, please go ahead ask the author if he (or she?, I am sorry I don't know) is willing to pass maintainership.

If you don't want to do that, I also need this fix and I am willing to do it.

Please let us know what happend.

Re: Character in 'C' format wrapped in pack at ... FmtDefault.pm line 68.

Sorry, but I cannot offer taking ownership here myself.

I just regard it a pain, that very likely quite a lot people try to use this software, and not all of them will fix the issues, for which solutions can actually be found.

I supplied the crosslink to

http://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=7376

here before, and I would enjoy seeing this properly taken care of.

Can you send me ( szabgab@gmail.com ) a small example Excel file with a minimal script to extract information from it that will trigger this warning?
I would like to add them to the tests of the module before applying the patch.

There are example/test files in Spreadsheet::Read.
They always trigger this message.
Spreadsheet::Read generates the 'C' => 'U' patch for you if it detects that.
Thanks for taking over maintainership.

Thanks for this,
I think it is fixed in 0.27_02 that I have just uploaded.
Please, check it when it reaches your CPAN mirror.
