GPS coordinates were detected but do not seem to have a valid format
Error-message with Menalto Gallery: GPS coordinates were detected but do not seem to have a valid format, use at your own risk or correct

I am pretty sure, that this is not a problem of Exiftool, but of Gallery. I use Exiftool 6.87 and Gallery 2.2.1 core 1.2.0.1 with map-module-0.5.1d. Maybe there is a connection with the change in 6.87? Any hints? It is unusable with Gallery, if the coordinates of _every_ picture have to be changed from 0,0 to the values, Gallery recognizes, but doesn't import.

Re: GPS coordinates were detected but do not seem to have a valid format
If you send me two samples I may be able to figure out what Gallery is complaining about: one that causes the warning, and one that doesn't.

ExifTool writes the GPS coordinates according to the EXIF specification, which leaves little room to go wrong, so I'm not sure what it could be complaining about unless it is expecting some tags that you haven't written.

Re: GPS coordinates were detected but do not seem to have a valid format
A new GPS-Gallery-module will be released in the next days maybe and then I will try again. Of course I can send you an image, which doesn't work, but I don't have an example which works. I will post an info when I know more, but this depends on the release of the new gps-module. My GPS-tags work with flickr and I had no problems with gps when I tested zooomr, but BTW zooomr didn't import the tags from iptc:keywords, which also seems to be a problem of zoomr. Maybe it is a problem, since iptc:keywords is a "list-tag".
